Ghostbusters Pursues Female Cast with Writer of ‘The Heat’
By Jason McDonald
When it was first speculated that we might get an all female “Ghostbusters” film, it caused quite a stir among film fans. However, it would appear that the powers that be are undeterred in their vision as they’ve taken another step in the direction of a female cast.
The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Katie Dippold will be re-teaming with director Paul Feig on Sony’s latest attempt to revive the “Ghostbusters” franchise. The duo previously worked on the Sandra Bullock/Melissa McCarthy film “The Heat.” I’ll admit, I’m a pretty big Melissa McCarthy fan, but even I thought “The Heat” was a bit of a drag. Still, Dippold also worked on “Parks and Rec”, so there’s still some potential for solid laughs.
And if you’re wondering about whether or not the ranks of the Ghostbusters will be filled out with women, director Paul Feig took to Twitter to answer that question. Saying that “Yes, it will star hilarious women. That’s who I’m gonna call.”
So there you have it, looks like we definitely have a female “Ghostbusters” team in our future. Unless, of course, this project fails to get off the ground like so many other “Ghostbusters”-related attempts. But, in the event that it does, who would you like to see on the new Ghostbusters team?
