Underworld: the Awakening actress India Eisley, pictured, is in final talks to star in indie The Curse of Sleeping Beauty, writes Heat Vision.

The film is based on the Brothers Grimm classic, but has a dark, modern twist.

Eisley will play the titular role of Sleeping Beauty, aka Briar Rose.

The talented Pearry Teo will direct and produce the project, which is also produced by Bleiberg Entertainment’s Ehud Bleiberg and executive produced by Nicholas Donnermeyer.

“When working on creating this specific vision of Sleeping Beauty, it’s always been my intention to try something that’s never been seen before,” says Teo. “We’re drawing on varied things like Silent Hill, Pan’s Labyrinth, The Cell and Insidious for inspiration, but we are creating something that will be very unique, both visually and in terms of storytelling.”

A concurrent comic book is also being developed by illustrator Everett Hartsoe, who recently relaunched his series Razor with Jeff Most.
