Last Rites opens at the Stoneheart Group building where Palmer is resting on his death bed conversing with Eichorst. The Master has still not turned Palmer who is becoming increasingly concerned and inching toward a grave. Eichorst reminds Palmer that The Master does what he wishes when he wishes and no amount of threats or coercion will get the man what he wants. Its a scintillating scene when you contemplate the context of it all. Palmer has potentially brought about the end of the world by ensuring the vampire virus is let loose on New York. This could at the least trigger the fall of the US.
