Indie developer Jesse Makkonen released his psychological horror game DISTRAINT on Steam back in August of 2015, and the game was critically acclaimed and has developed quite a loyal following, even prompting the announcement of a sequel. In November of last year, he adapted the game for mobile and released it on Android where it was similarly acclaimed and garnered more than three quarters of a million downloads. Not bad! This week, the mobile version has also arrived on iOS as DISTRAINT: Pocket Pixel Horror [$0.99] and you can get a very brief glimpse of what it’s like in the release trailer for the Steam version below.
I wasn’t familiar with DISTRAINT previously, but it’s definitely caught my attention with its eerie mood and visuals. As mentioned, the desktop version was extremely well-received and it seems like the type of experience that will be a perfect fit for mobile touchscreens. The impressions in our forums are also quite positive, so if you’re looking for something a bit unsettling to spend your time on this week then consider checking out the new iOS version of DISTRAINT for its crazy low price of 99¢ with no IAP.
